حبيبات كربيد السيليكون الأسود عبارة عن حبيبات صلبة للغاية، تتكون من 99% من كربيد السيليكون. وباعتبارها مادة كاشطة، فهي مناسبة للتفجير الكاشط، ومعالجة الأسطح، وطحن المواد الصلبة مثل الرخام والزجاج واليشم، وغيرها. يُنتج كربيد السيليكون من خلال عملية تتضمن تفاعلًا كهروكيميائيًا للسيليكا (SiO2) على شكل كوارتز ممزوجًا بالكربون (C) في شكل فحم البترول الخام.
